FAQ'S & Info

Everything you need to know before your private Puerto Vallarta charter.

From booking to boarding: your yacht charter FAQs, answered.

How far in advance should I book my Puerto Vallarta yacht charter?

For high season and holiday periods, we recommend reserving your charter 3–6 months in advance to secure your preferred yacht and date. Many guests plan even earlier for peak occasions to ensure the ideal vessel, route and timing.
Short‑notice and last‑minute bookings are warmly welcomed and often possible, subject to yacht and crew availability. If your trip is approaching soon, your concierge will be pleased to check current inventory and propose the best options for your dates.

How is pricing determined for private yacht charters?

Rates are tailored to each charter and reflect yacht size, duration, and season. Pricing is per yacht, not per person, and includes professional crew, fuel within Bahía de Banderas, and standard onboard amenities as per choice of yacht.
Each yacht features a designated included guest capacity; if your party exceeds that number, a refined per‑person rate applies for additional guests to ensure comfort, service and safety standards are maintained at the same level.
Departure and drop‑off arrangements, bespoke food and beverage experiences, jet‑skis and water toys, massage services and other curated extras are all refined with you at the time of booking.
For a fully personalised quote, please explore each yacht’s details and inclusions and, most importantly, allow your concierge to confirm final pricing and tailor the experience to your group.

How do deposits work and what payment methods do you accept?

We accept secure online payments through PayPal, Stripe, and Wise. PayPal and Stripe support major credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover where available. A 50% deposit is required to confirm your reservation and reserve your yacht and crew for your chosen date, with the remaining balance due 10 days before departure. Direct bank transfer may be available by prior arrangement with our team.

What is your cancellation and weather policy?

Cancellations made more than 30 days before departure are fully refundable, giving you generous flexibility for early changes of plan. Inside 30 days, standard cancellation fees apply in line with the commitments we make to your yacht, captain and crew.
Charters proceed as scheduled unless the marina is officially closed or port authorities issue restrictions due to extreme weather or safety conditions. In those rare cases, your concierge will work with you to reschedule or find an appropriate solution consistent with the policy outlined at booking.
Light rain, passing showers or overcast skies do not qualify for cancellation; in most cases we simply refine the route and anchoring choices to keep you as comfortable as possible while still enjoying Bahía de Banderas.

Can I reschedule my charter if my plans change?

Yes, rescheduling is generally possible with reasonable advance notice and is always subject to yacht and crew availability. Weather‑related adjustments are handled with flexibility so your experience remains both safe and enjoyable, whether that means refining the route or moving your date. For full details, please refer to our cancellation and weather policy or consult your concierge

What is included in my Puerto Vallarta yacht charter?

Charters typically include a professional captain and crew, fuel within Bahía de Banderas, ice, purified water, soft drinks and standard snorkeling equipment—everything needed for a relaxed day on the bay.
Select yachts also feature elevated touches such as curated snacks, upgraded bar service or enhanced water toys. Because each vessel is unique in its layout and amenities, inclusions and activities may vary by yacht.
For precise details, please refer to your chosen yacht’s description and allow your concierge to confirm the exact inclusions at the time of booking; these will also be outlined clearly in your booking agreement.

What should I bring on board?

We recommend bringing swimwear, a light cover‑up, reef‑safe sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and any personal medications you may need while on the water.
You’re welcome to bring personal snacks or favourite beverages where permitted for your specific yacht; your concierge can confirm any guidelines or restrictions for outside items at the time of booking.

How do you ensure safety on board?

All yachts operate in compliance with local maritime safety regulations and are equipped with appropriate life jackets, navigation and safety equipment for your group size and planned route.
Experienced, licensed captains and crew actively monitor weather and sea conditions throughout your charter and adjust routes or timing as needed to maintain a safe, comfortable experience on Bahía de Banderas.

Is tipping the crew customary in Puerto Vallarta?

Yes—gratuity is customary in Puerto Vallarta and is not included in the charter rate. As a guideline, a tip of 10–20% of the charter cost, based on your experience, is considered appropriate and is always appreciated by the crew.
In keeping with local practice, gratuity (propina) is typically given directly to the crew in cash, in either Mexican pesos (MXN) or US dollars (USD).

Where do yacht charters in Puerto Vallarta depart from?

Most yacht charters in Puerto Vallarta depart from the principal marinas in Puerto Vallarta, Nuevo Vallarta or La Cruz, depending on your selected yacht and itinerary.
Your exact meeting point, boarding instructions and arrival details will be confirmed in your booking information for a smooth and seamless departure.
Alternative departure or drop‑off arrangements may be available upon request and can involve additional fees; for the most accurate guidance, please refer to your yacht details and allow your concierge to confirm the final arrangements.

Can I add experiences after I've booked?

Absolutely. Most experiences can be added up to 48–72 hours before departure, subject to availability — jet skis and décor book up fastest in high season, so earlier is always better.

Where can we go on a 4, 6, or 8-hour yacht charter?

As a general guide, a 4-hour charter is ideal for close-to-bay highlights like Los Arcos, easy cruising, swimming, and snorkeling near Puerto Vallarta. With 6 hours, you usually have more time for longer beach and swim stops along the South Bay, with routes that may include areas like Majahuitas, Las Animas, Quimixto, or Yelapa. An 8-hour charter is best for a fuller South Bay day, with more time for deeper cruising, Yelapa-area exploring, beach time, snorkeling, and a relaxed sunset return to port.
